STORM ADVICE FROM MORE TH>N
Following the tornado which hit Birmingham yesterday, leading direct insurer, MORE TH>N’s David Pitt, Head of Insurance, said: “Although tornadoes are fairly common in Britain, the one to hit Birmingham was one of the most severe to hit in a number of years – the last one being in Selsey in the late 1990s. As soon as the tornado struck we deployed our in-house loss adjusting team, who are at the site to help homeowners and businesses get their properties back to normal as quickly as possible.”
If you would like to speak to one of our loss adjustors in the Birmingham area please contact: Alison McCulloch, MORE TH>N External Communications, 020 7337 5728.
MORE TH>N from Royal & SunAlliance, is offering the following advice to homeowners and businesses.
1. Notify your insurance company as soon as possible – remember they are there to help. MORE TH>N helplines are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year (details on Helpcard or Policy Guide).
2. Follow any advice from the emergency services.
3. If you are clearing up any debris from the tornado that you wish to claim for, leave it in the garden or take photograph’s for your insurer to view.
4. Keep guttering, drainpipes and overflow pipes clear from debris and leaves. Check that they are securely attached to the building.
5. Keep any valuables in a safe place.
6. Visually check your roof for loose or missing tiles. If you have sustained damage contact MORE TH>N immediately for further advice.
7. Essential emergency work can be completed immediately to make your property weatherproof and secure.
