With an estimated £20.1m of rental deposits wrongfully withheld each year*, leading home insurer MORE TH>N has extended the suite of on-line legal documents available through its Family Legal Services product to help tenants recoup their money without facing hefty legal expenses.
MORE TH>N Family Legal Services allows access to hundreds of online documents in an easy to use template format from which customers can quickly create their own legal documents, including a new ‘demand for repayment of deposit’ letter – particularly useful for students who move on an annual basis.
Steve Kingshott, Head of home insurance at MORE TH>N, says: “Students are particularly at risk in this area, the National Union of Students estimates that around 35,000 students will have had part or all of their deposit unfairly withheld this summer. If their parents have chosen our Family Legal Services option within MORE TH>N Home insurance, then they can use our online legal documents and legal advice line to help establish their rights and quickly progress a solution.”
Customers can gain access to Family Legal Services as an extension to MORE TH>N home insurance for only £17.90 a year. It contains over 200 professionally written interactive documents available to download, via the MORE TH>N website -www.morethan.com. The documents cover a wide range of topics, from making a will or getting a refund on faulty goods to a pre-nuptial agreement or a divorce. Documents are accessed through a secure, password protected website and once completed can be sent to a legal expert for free checking.
The Family Legal Service also includes a free 24-hour legal advice line, confidential assistance from qualified legal professionals and legal expenses of up to £50,000 for legal fees for court proceedings.
